A Blog Is Best for Your Website
I've built hundreds of websites, and nowadays I always build them with WordPress. WordPress is a software system that produces a blog, rather than a static, or fixed, website. There are lots of advantages to this approach, and here are just three:
- Easy to update and keep fresh. After your website is built by The Web Doctor (that's me), you can continue to add new information to it right from your computer at home or office. There's no need to pay me extra to keep your customers excited about what you have to offer. Seth Godin, marketing expert, just wrote an excellent blog post about the importance of keeping your "people" informed. Click here to read it.
- Easy to build. That may seem like just an advantage to me, the builder. The big advantage to you is that your cost can be so low. Easy does not mean poor, because WordPress comes with powerful features and options.
- Many attractive themes. The theme of a blog is its overall "look": colors, type, and layout. There are zillions of free WordPress themes available, and you can also pay a designer to create a special one for you.

Want to Learn Some WordPress? I'll use WordPress software to install your new website. Although I'll get it going real good, it's going to be up to you to add content to it. Perhaps you want to get more familiar with the power of WordPress. If so, this website has links to the videos that will equip you: 100+ Wordpress Video Tutorials, from Basic to Advanced
Posting to Your Website In the past I have recommended to my clients that they use Windows Live Writer to add content to their websites. This is a convenient, easy-to-use, free program. If you install this, I recommend you uncheck all the boxes except "Writer" when they are presented.
I have just learned about ScribeFire, a plugin (extension, addon, whatever) that is available for Firefox, Google Chrome, and Safari. For safety and convenience sakes, I recommend that you be using one of those three browsers for your Web activity, instead of any other you might have on your computer.
If you are already using Windows Live Writer and are comfortable with it, I recommend you stick with it. Otherwise, I recommend you give ScribeFire a tryout.
Here are the links for downloading the Firefox and Chrome browsers.

Tell the World about You! Yes, you need a website, and The Web Doctor is the man to provide you with one. But people need to come to your website, and you need a strategy to make that happen. One of the best approaches on today's Internet is with "social networking." Without going into detail about social networking here, let me give you a free ebook you can download and read at your leisure. It’s written in PDF format, and if you don’t already have a PDF reader, you can get one free by clicking here. To get the ebook, just click on the cover picture.
